I plan on selling a Series 70 Colt I picked up several years back and was curious about the value. I have the pistol, one magazine and the original box. The model number is D1971

Background: This belonged originally to the father of a friend who used to be in the gun business. When he closed the business he put his remaining inventory in a vault and left it there for over 30 years. Ultimately he decided to get rid of it all and I was fortunate to pick this up. It has had all of 250 rounds put through it (five boxes).

I never have liked shiny guns and while it is a beautiful specimen of a Series 70...it looks a little too "pimp" for my tastes. I'd rather put the money to better use.

Did a quick scan of completed auctions on a couple of sites. Series 70 similar finish to yours but unfired in box went for around $1300, but again those were unfired in the box.

It is hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like there maybe a couple of small/faint marks and or scuffs on the slide. If that is the case and with the gun being fired, my guess would be around the $950 - $1050, but I am not an expert.
