I currently shoot 6gt in PRS and want to try the 25gt but have a few questions. I have the SAC modular sizing die and will be using Alpha brass. What bushing and mandrel for the SAC die would be the go to for the 25 cal ? Also what are you using to seat the bullet ? I’ll be using a 26” barrel, alpha brass and I have both Varget and H4350. I’ll be using the Berger 135g or the Hornady 134 g bullets. What is the “sweet spot” in velocity to run the 25 GT ? What initial charge weights should I start with on the low end ? Thanks

I’m using a 282 bushing on alpha 25 creed brass I’m assuming you would be in that neighborhood for the gt. I’m using the seater die by sac, should work for the 25 gt as well
For speeds I would say the sweet spot is 2700-2800. If you want more than 2800 I’d go 25x47.
My GRT reloading app shows 58k psi at 2780-2800 with 135s and 36.5-36.8 H4350, and with varget at 2740-2760fps, 34.2-34.5gr. There is a 25gt Facebook group as well. I have brass and barrel is at smith getting cut soon. 28" finished 7.5tw brux heavy varmint.

UPDATE:
I went with one of Austin Orgains CRB 28” barrels with 1:7.5 twist. Using Alpha 25gt brass with 135 bergers and 36.6 g of H4350. Gets me around 2726 fps. I’m using the SAC modular sizing die with a 281 bushing and 255 mandrel (which is recommended by Alpha). Picture attached is from working on setting up data out to 1275 yards on my kestrel. 56 shots total with sd of 5 and es of 23. Can’t ask for much more than that. I shot my 1st PRS match a couple of weeks ago and was really able to see my hits and misses a lot better running the heavier bullet and slower speed than I was able to see shooting my 6gt. The small amount of increased recoil is not really noticeable during shooting stages. So far I’m loving the 25gt and plan to stick with this caliber for a while.

How many rounds are on your barrel?
Little over 400 right now. It was close to 300 when the picture was taken.
Someone else would be better suited to answer this question. For me, I was already shooting 6gt so at the time I switched I already had a lot of brass, running the SAC modular die so only had to buy a new bushing and mandrel for it. Seating with SAC Infinity die so no new dies to buy. I have plenty of H4350 and Varget. I wanted to run a heavier bullet than what I could in 6gt and run it slower so I could see more during PRS matches. So for me it was limited expense to switch and I knew it would do all the things I wanted it to do for PRS. Im sure the 25x47 could do all those things too but I don’t know if there is an advantage with one or the other for what my purpose is.

Whats the advantage of X47 over 25cm? Same question......lil slower, lil less powder and recoil, lil more barrel life. Lots guys are running 6mm slower with high bc bullets all the time. A 25gt with a 135 going 2750 has as good or better wind than all the highest bc 6mm bullets running 2900fps.

I went with the 180fb reamer as I generally start at 30k in load dev and work further back. I shoot the 135 35k off in my 25cm, which has 150k freebore.
Glad you had an overall positive experience, I also shoot 6GT but want something a little slower and easier to see. I started PRS in October 2023 and was shooting .308 originally. Got hooked and bought a MPA rifle chambered in 6GT but noticed that it’s harder for me to spot my splash especially with west coast winds! I’ve been looking at 22GT and 25GT as alternatives since I too have brass and would just need bushing and mandrels to make the swap. As far as recoil I wouldn’t mind 25 Cal as I was doing okay with a .308 at local matches
