I have the opportunity to buy a new Rem 700 sps 30-06 with a harris bipod for $300 and was thinking about using the action for a 300 win mag build. What would I have to do to the action and the bolt to switch the calibers?

You would need a bolt face of .540" I believe. And have the barrel rechambered if you wanted to keep it.

AS stated you will need to have the bolt face opened and have a new extractor installed or have the bolt switched out to a new PTG bolt which is the way to go IMHO.
