Okay Guys and Gals. All you who have a Quick measure, and are using it for your precision reloading...give us a report on how the measure works, holds up, and if you think it is a significant improvement over the better manual measures out there such as Pacific, Redding and Harrels. Thanks in advance! FNP

Re: Quick Measure Reports

Had one and sent it right back... twice. How well do they work? they don't! When its off, it's waaaaay off, like 0.5 gr. off.

If you want fast, go with two Chargemasters and just calibrate them with the same set of weights.

Re: Quick Measure Reports

You can find other reports on 6mmbr... they pretty much say the same. This is the only glowing review of it I have come across:

Honestly, my Dillon powder dispenser was somewhat more consistent that the QM. The internals of it were polished to a shine though, which improves it a lot. I say somewhat because the QM would throw a few charges fairly consistently (+/- 0.1 gr.) and then throw one that was way off (0.5 gr. or more), while the Dillon would be mostly within +/- 0.2 gr. off, with the occasional +/- 0.3 gr. flyer. This was tested with Varget. Results with RL-17 and N550 were better with both dispensers.

Re: Quick Measure Reports

Totally unimpressed with mine....does not like stick powder just like all the other 'precision' throwers (Harrells, Redding etc)I have tried although it doesnt get stuck or need to chop the grain. In that respect it is different. Its ability to consistently throw a given charge however is not close to its claim in my experience.
Varies like crazy as powder level falls...owner says its important to use consistent timing on the rise and fall of the lever...yeah, I wish....I've tried it fast, slow and all in between.
There is no getting around having to throw a low charge and trickle it up on a scale to an exact weight. It will track along in this manner +/- .2 and then pitch one out of the park.
When it comes to extruded powders I still get my most consistent throws from a $15 lee red plastic flapper style thrower. It looks like a bugger on my bench compared to the rest of my equipment but it wins out. I throw a low charge with it and trickle up on a beam.....its consistency is amazing considering its incredibly cheap construction.
My opinion; save your $$ and hope for the day when the prometheous version 2 or the like is finally available and affordable.

Re: Quick Measure Reports

Its inability to chop powder is why I believe it throws charges out of the park every so often. When a kernel of powder gets caught in the valve, it prevents it from closing and additional kernels are allowed to sneak through the gap. I observed this quite a bit, it would often "leak" powder when it wasn't being activated. I think the thing would be more accurate if it would just chop the damn kernel and shut the valve.

Re: Quick Measure Reports

Well...thanks to all for confirmations. I have tried Lyman, Pacific, Dillon, and Harrell...none will consistantly do better than =/- 0.2 in my hands. Which is why the .3 grain OCW load development makes so much sense! JMHO

Re: Quick Measure Reports

Try H322 and Benchmark. They look like little baby Varget kernels, are temperature stable and meter really well, almost as good as a ball powder because the kernels aren't much bigger. I've never seen stick powders that meter better.
