Would using Badger alloy rings have any problems being mounted on a Farrell steel base?
I have a Savage 10FCP/Choate and the Farrell 20moa base. I am about to order a 6.5x20x44 Vortex Viper. Standard Badger rings should be GTG- right? I have read that the 40mm scopes are OK with standard/low rings, and that 50mm scopes might need medium height rings. I think the 44mm scope should be OK, but I don't have either the scope or rings to measure anything.

Re: Quick ring question

You can go as low as you want with a 40mm..

Only issue i have seen with Farrel base is the width of the cross slot. On some older ones it was a bit under picatinny spec. Not sure how narrow it is compared to badgers lug, but it wouldn't take much to make it wider if need be.

Doubt you will notice

A file will remove material, just depends on how much material you have to remove and how much filing you want to do.
