Was wondering of anyone has had any luck with this barrel?

http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2267

I know they offer another 16" that is twice as much that people seem to like. Curious about this one with the polygonal rifling.

I am looking for a new 16" light barrel for my ar. I am wanting something that will shoot acceptionally accurately without costing too much!

Thanks

Re: Rainer arms barrels

Rainier has been around a while and is not known for selling junk, I would feel confident in that barrel especially considering the price. Plus it has all the desirable specs as far as twist, gas system, chamber, additionally their guarantee is a deal maker for me......go for it!

Re: Rainer arms barrels

I recently had a problem with a product I bought from Rainier Arms and had to exchange it. Their CS was top notch. They are on the top of my list of companies to deal with.

Re: Rainer arms barrels

This barrel peaked my interest too, I wouldn't mind beating up a $189 stainless barrel in a carbine class or what have you. I think the spec's are good, like a cross between Noveske and JP and made out of 416R which should give it reasonable life expectancy. I doubt it is lapped, so I say buy one, massage the bore with KG-2 for 15-20 minutes using the pellet system from Brownells and shoot it. If you don't like it send it back, as I have no doubt Ranier will stand behind their products.

So I understand your question....do you mean a pentagonal barrel?

No, he means polygonal rifling, which in this case is 3-groove.

Re: Rainer arms barrels

Noveske uses poly rifling and they are fairly accurate. My last 5.56 Recon barrel shot ~.75" on average, my current Noveske 6.8 shoots about 1". I was told that the poly rifling helps relieve a little pressure by LWRC, but I'm not sure it would prove to be anything significant in 5.56.

Rainier is GTG. I've been to their shop personally, even when they were internet only and didn't have a public storefront (they do now). Good guys to deal with. Any issues and they'll get you squared away.
