I took a customers rifle out to a range while i was on leave and told him id run it through the paces and BZO it to my eyes and find a good ammo for him.
The rifle is a SURPLUS AMMO & ARMS AR, Ive never heard of this brand before and at first i was skeptical at the performance possibility of this rifle.
Upon taking the rifle out of the case i instantly noticed it was quite heavy and the rifle wasn't balanced to well, the barrel end was quite a bit heavier the the stock end.
I noticed there wasn't any wiggle between the upper and lower, upon pulling the bolt carrier group out i inspected the pieces, pulling the bolt apart and it resembled a colt group. The buffer and buffer spring could use upgraded, the buffer seemed slightly small and the spring didn't have a lot of tension. This was apparent after i fired the first round and the rifle had slightly more recoil for a heavy barrel .223 should have.
The glass is a BSA contender scope 6-24x40. it is a Mil Dot scope however adjustment is 1/8 turrets and this scope is on the lower end however its a good varmint scope for someone shooting small game.
On to the range. The range is a private gun club i belong to in Central Illinois (remember i am on military leave). they recently expanded the range to 200 Yards so it was perfect to put this stick through its paces. Here's a picture of the range
I tried 2 different types of Ammo,
Hornady 75 grain bthp and hornady superformance varmint 53 grain.
Now for the shooting, I fired my first three rounds, unsure of the rifles DOPE
After After 10 clicks of windage adjustments to the right I fired three more rounds.
Moved to the 200 yard line firing
here's the best group at 200 yards
I fired two other strings of 3 rounds however shooter error played some small parts and if you wanted to see bad groups you could go on other forums lol.
After that I challenged my business partner with a rapid fire 8 round burst with his bolt gun against this AR to see which is more dominate in the rapid fire engagement (like we don't know) and this was the result at 200 yards.
Overall I think this rifle is accurate and a decent rifle for the price of what the customer paid for it. I would actually buy it if it was a reasonable price and replace the glass with a NF or equivalent
