Went to the range this past weekend and fired 3 sets of different loads. The loads consisted of;
Winchester brass - 2.005
Varget Powder - 42.0 gr, 43.0 gr, and 44.0 gr
CCI 200 primers
Sierra Match King 175's
OAL - 2.810
Everything was the same for the load apart from the powder charge. Here are the results from that shoot. All are 5 shot groups at 100 yards...
Middle was the 42.0 gr at .6 MOA, lower left was the 43.0 at .8 MOA and the bottom right was the 44.0 gr...not under MOA.
All were shot off the bipod on the bench.....The 42 & 43 both felt good, but the 44.0 seemed to feel a bit "strong" for lack of a better word. There was no sign of any case damage or over pressure on the cases.
This was at ~600 yards...(42 & 43)....not too bad for only my second time shooting this far. I am getting some good dope for distance, although no chrono data yet.
Think I'm going to work with the 42 & 43 load a bit to find it's happy place. Some guys on another forum told me to space the charge every .3 or so between 42 and 43......so I'll see how that goes. Abandoning the 44 for now.
Input welcome....thanks guys ...
