Finally got out to my range this weekend to do some load development for my new heavy bull criterion 7mm08 rem barrel on my savage model 12 vlp, I loaded 162 gr Hornady A-Max over varget powder(37.5-40 gr in .5 gr lots) @ 2.945 col, every thing was moa or better and 40 gr was 1/2 moa , this was .5 gr over max charge with no pressure signs seated out .010 off lands @ 2615 fps. All of my load tests are done at 160 yds.

This was my first barrel swap I have done by myself and I am very happy with the results.

Just loaded up 35 more with 40 gr, and 15 with 40.5 gr(1 gr over max) of varget, to see if maybe it will do better . ( if still pressure sign free)

40 gr varget, 160 yds, @ 2615 fps, .801 top and .794 bottom (ouside diameter minus .284)

H-S precision tactical vertical grip in urban camo, got it from their site.
My barrel took 6 weeks to get. The way they explained it to me they make their barrels in lots by bullet diameter.

Good shooting and good looking rifle.
I ordered a 7-08 barrel 6/8/11 and was told it could be as much as 10 weeks. Seeing how yours shoots is going to make the wait harder. Did you order straight from them or from Northland?
