I picked up a box of this stuff to try , and to get a baseline for mk262 mod 1 with my rifle and chronograph.

This was shot through my WOA 18" spr barrel with a midlength gas system , and a H2 buffer , and Wylde chamber.

First thing noticed is this stuff is HOT, and you can tell it from the first shot! If you don't know what ejector swipes look like this stuff will show you.

I shot 2 - 5 shot groups at 100 yds with a 10 X scope.
Both groups measured 7/8 " center to center. This stuff shot supprisingly well for the velocity. I haven't been able to get my reloads to shoot this good after exceeding 2640 fps..

Velocity for the 10 shots was 2710,2721,2721,2715,2715,2710,2699,2704,2704,2688. Av 2708,
ES 33, SD 10.

Not the 2750 I was expecting but close.

Re: Range results from new Black Hills 5.56 77 gr otm

There is some good info on the difference between the 223 77 and 556 77 here. I am getting this question more and more as people are looking for the 556 77 stuff.

For a while they were loaded with different bullets. Now all Black Hills 77 bullets are the Sierra 77 SMK with cannelure, as used in the Mk262 mod 1.

Here are the listed specs:
223 2750fps from a 24" barrel
556 2750fps from a 20" barrel

I dont think you will find a difference in accuracy, unless you have one of "those" rifles that just insists on puking out the good stuff.

Just remember not to shoot 556 ammo out of a 223 chamber.

BTW, Black Hills now also offers the 69 Sierra in 556 as well.
