Actually, on August 12, 1776, General of the Army George Washington ordered Lieutenant Colonel Knowlton to select an elite group of men from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts to carry out reconnaissance missions. These were America's first official spies, "Knowlton's Rangers" were also the first organized American elite troops.

The Marines were formed in 1775, so officially they were first, unofficially the Rangers had already been formed. Rogers Rangers, whose standing orders are still posted at the front of every Ranger handbook were formed in 1755.

Saying that the Rangers were created to keep up with the Naval Infantry is laughable.

As an aside, that was the first fat body Marine I have ever seen. I am embarrassed most days at the physical prowess of a lot of our soldiers.

You know every branch has that, but we are talking about members of the 75th Ranger Reg. THey are not like this Nasty Girl, If you disagree please note 1:32 in the said mentioned video. You see a overweight Marine. I'm sure if I kept looking for photos of overweight Marines I could find them, so please stop this shit.

    Re: Ranger Promo deux

So it is alright to find a random picture of a Marine and compare him to one specific Army unit. That would be like me making a moto Marine recon video and comparing them to the soldier in the picture above. Rangers are supposidly the upper end of the Army fighting force, correct? Then let us make a fair comparison. Find a picture of an overweight recon Marine. I guarantee you that you will not find one. It is a fact that the Marine Corps has the most strict height/weight standards of all the services. If you are overweight in the Marine Corps you are given the chance to fix your self and if you can't do it then youa re kicked out. I am sure it is much easier to find several pictures of overweight soldiers then it is to find pictures of over weight Marines. This kind of interservice bickering has gone on for many, many years. Both services have their place, and both services have the 10%. Let it go because it really isnt going to get you anywhere.

    Gentlemen:

I am a Marine, once and always.

Rangers rock, as does each and every member of the armed services of the United States.

All serve, and should be honored for their service, even the most junior squiddly Navy cook.

As my NCOs would say, gentlemen, "Knock this shit off."
