Rant on opinions when people ask for equipment input

Why, when people ask which is the best between A, B, and C piece of equipment(scopes, stocks, barrels, etc) do people always feel the need to offer options DEFG and all the way through Z that’s not on the persons list. This drives me crazy. Unless they ask for other options, if someone asks for which is the best option between 2-3 items, if you can’t offer any experienced input, why not just not comment! Rant over🤭

Point is valid.

But there are some seriously experienced next level (top level actually...) shooters on here who know everything worth knowing about shooting and good and bad equipment.

What if the OP hadn’t considered DEFG and one of them might actually be superior to ABC for the intended purpose?

One benefit of the Hide is, if we can filter the wheat from the chaff, the good advice is both free and valuable.

And if the OP doesn’t value the gold on offer here, it’s their loss.

75% of these “Whats the best A, B and/or C” posts are so personal preference, you might as well draw an answer out of your hat anyway, to include D, E...

The widely accepted mindset that bolt on instant improvement trumps actually using and becoming proficient with what you have or any random draw between the listed options is insane.

Buying a $140 sticky Get Lite schmedium gamechanger vs TRAINING with a $30 walmart BS bag... BS bag wins.

The same goes for most all of the top MFG muzzle brakes, scope rings, triggers, barrels, bipods, stocks/chassis, actions, optics.

But now we’re talking about throwing $ at a hobby vs training and accepting we all suck at and have to actually work on certain aspects of shooting to see meaningful improvement.

Why do people come here and ask questions constantly that they could have answered with 6 minutes on the google search bar?

Instead they ask us for opinions on 3 out of 10 great choices and go back to their “Daisy Does Donkey” porn search....

If you don’t want answers from people who actually use the equipment then ask your questions on related Facebook pages, plenty of “I would use this” “cause I read this” but never handled “it”

All points valid. We all have our reasons for choosing the equipment we use. Experience is the most valuable tool in deciding. Quite often people make suggestions because it’s what they chose.

Well we’re on the subject...

Is this still available????
Your comments are not appreciated, but tell me more about Daisy.

You must remember that most people who ask about certain products have not had the chance to handle any of them. Let alone run them through their paces. A friend suggests, they read in a book etc

Which is why it’s so important to tell us what your intentions are for the rifle

Maybe some have features others don’t. Maybe the intended use of the scope is going to be on the high end of magnification and one shines over another. Some are feature rich but prone to failure

I’ve used a decent amount of optics and have asked opinions on here several times to ensure I’ll make the right decisions. Back in the days when NF NXS was king or you had 3 chassis to choose from it was easier deciding.

The market is flooded with options now and luckily others have the sponsors or money to test them out and give real world feedback for those that may see a $1,000 scope/chassis etc as a one time purchase

Have you tried asking any of the people in question? If so, what was their answer? If not, why not?

The internet is full of gear faggots. This site is no different.

They will vehemently shill fpr a product that costs 400% more to get 10% more performance. Often times they have very little or no actual experience with the product they are shilling for, but they have learned the mantra and they want to sound knowledgeable. Spending your money costs them absolutely nothing.

But in the end, the original poster is the one laying his dick on the table to get smashed, so they get what they ask for.

On his podcast Frank said Snipers Hide has had over 800,000 unique users. And 158,000 members. I figure most of them are noobs like me and actually welcome some expert qualified input. Maybe not. 🤷🏼

No, because these aren’t my posts that I’m referring to. Don’t wanna call the guy out on somebody else’s thread. I’ve just seen too many times where somebody has said I’ve narrowed down my choices to these three… And someone else pipes up with something else that they bought that they think is better...again, this is a rant. It’s not just this site, it’s every site

Sniper's Hide is a great place to get information, share knowledge and experience. I'm glad that you are here in this community. But like any community you have to take the good with the not so good.

You may already know and practice this, but when seeking advice on a product or skill set or when even posting info on a product that you use, it's always best to search and try to find posts on that product or similar to the questions that you have and add to that post/thread. If your info is different start a new post/thread.

That said, you will always find those who chastise you for one reason or another.

When asking about specific products, I believe that it is good to offer options that the original poster may not have included in the original post. Just as stated by members above. But this should be done with respect and in a way that does not deride or derail the original post.

It is important for the skilled and knowledgeable members of Sniper's Hide to mentor those that are new to the sport or have less experience...

Don't give up or abandon The Hide... ask your questions, post your experiences and ideas, help others...
I love the hide and the other sites that I am a part of.....and the knowledge I have gained. Just ranting 😁
