O.K., here it comes again. April 6th and 7th. I just cut and pasted the info below from the previous match thread, but I'm sure it will be similar. Any changes will be announced in this thread. There will be 20 shooters per day for Saturday and Sunday. $50 match fee is due by March 10th. Any cancellations after March 10th will not be refunded. If you already signed up after the last match you are GTG and no need to call back in.

Cost to shoot the match will be $ 50.00. There will be trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd places (NO PRIZE TABLE). Start time will be 8:00 am. We are looking at about 20 stages. We are going to run a few stages timed like a pistol match. Most stages you will have 2 shots per target if needed. It looks as if the longest shot will be 950 yards. Minimum of 45 shots and max of about 80. It will be shot in a one day format. All competitors will pre register for the match. They will be able to shoot the match either on a Saturday or a Sunday. The staff will shoot on Friday. It looks as if there will be 2 different structures to shoot from incorporated into the match. Scoring will be 10 points for a first shot hit and 5 points for a 2nd shot hit. Competitors will walk and carry what ever they think they will need for the match. There will be a break for lunch. There will be no spotters. We will call out a hit or a miss that is it. The scenario is You are behind enemy lines and your spotter is dead. There are no classes .... it's run what you brung. Nothing larger than .338 and of course no armor piercing ammo. Target ranges will be given on most stages, so no range finding needed.

For directions, contact info etc. the web site is http://www.raynersrange.com/ There are also monthly matches on the 4th Sunday of every month if you'd like to check it out ahead of time. Overnight camping is permitted. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession/registration area.

Guys if you haven't shot this match you're missing out!!!! Its a great match hosted by some of the greatest people you can meet. The stages are always challenging and new every match. Get signed up early. I will be there for the Saturday match and look forward to it.

Re: Rayner’s SE Ohio Spring Sniper Challenge April 6-7

Saturday is full with a waiting list. Sunday has a few spots available. If you want to shoot this match call the Rayner's.

Yea, it's that much fun. Some were signed up from last year.

I better still be on the list for this spring for sat or there will be a beat down come tomorrow morning ;)..

Looks like this match is filled to capacity with a little overflow shooting on Friday. Good luck to all that got it. If you want to shoot the match you could still call the Rayner's and get on the waiting list or see if anything might be available for Friday. There are always a couple last minute cancellations.

As stated above the Rayners are good people. It would still be worth getting on the waiting list for a slot. This is a good match.

Good luck,
Merritt

Kinda off topic but this new format allows users to create groups, so I opened up an Ohio one under the name Ohio Shooters to make it easier to get in touch with each other. Join if ya like, it would be nice to get yall in one place. You can find it in the Community>Groups tab at the top of the page.

Looks like I missed out but I'll call tomorrow to see about getting on the wait list for Sunday.

Hey shooters,
Just a reminder that the match fee is due March 10. Apparently there are several others that would really like to get into the match, so if you haven't paid up by the 10th your spot may go to the next guy waving a $50 bill.

I'd say it worked out well for Saturday. Sunday looks a little bit sketchy. Looks like it will be higher winds and raining. If it appears that it will rain most of the day, I will probably stay home. Do not care for being cold and wet when I don't have to be.

Once again, a great match put on by the Rayner's and crew. Thanks to all the staff and helpers for all of the hard work. Good times!

Had a blast today, thanks Tom and Carol and all the staff... Perfect weather. Good luck tomorrow fellows...

Sadly I had a few things come up and I won't be able to make it. Good luck to all the shooters tomorrow!

Great match as always, thanks to the Rayner family and all of the range officers that ran the match so well.

I think it is easy to look at a match like this and think that it's simple to put together. But when you really start to take it in and see all of the coordination that had to be done in order to have two large groups shooting 20 stages at the same time in such a small piece of hilly terrain without ever being in each others firing lines, and never having to wait on the other group at any time, no less never even seeing them the whole day is quite an accomplishment.

After experiencing other tactical matches that cost four times as much and can only pull off a two or three stages in a day, I must say that the Rayner's could school a few of these match directors on how it's done.

Thanks again for putting this match on for us.

Very well done...Great match with a good mix of shooting distances and positions. The wind was incredible on Sunday, constantly shifting and gusting from nothing to 20mph. Made for a tough day on the longer shots. I agree with Mr. Smith as well. I've been to a few matches that have more area and we ran one giant squad all day, not fun. The crew at Rayners did a great job.

Match was awesome! Had a great time, met lots of awesome people, not to mention great food. I will definitely be coming back in November unless something drastic happens, and once gain thanks for the hospitality and a well put together match!

That looks like a damn good time! Nice pictures! Soon as I get the long range game figured out I plan on getting into some matches. Honestly I'm just intimadated by range accessment and being able to dial a 1/4 moa scope quick enough....do you guys offer Long Range classes for newbs?

You've got it backwards. You need to get into some matches to get the long range game figured out.
Rayner's is a great place to learn. All you gotta do is show up!

Sounds like it was a great shoot again. I'm sure sorry I missed it!

Right on. I will have to make it out soon. I just figure these matches are real "clicky"....I'm a bass fisherman and some tournaments I go to are wrought with guys who won't share, talk about, or just bs about the fishing....some of them act all elitist so to speak. I don't have time for that and I kinda figures LR shooting would b the same. But anyhow it looks like my options are Rayners and Thunder Valley for getting into your sport.

The match-day yesterday went very well...! i have to take my hat off to the folks there; they did an excellent job at coordinating all the activities and assuring that the stages went off without any hitches.... No long wait times, all questions were answered in a proffessional manner, stages were laid out and explained very well and above all else it was just Damn Fun!...I know I will be back for more of the Rayner's hospitality soon...Thanks to everyone there who stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun!

Hey Demoman, It's far from that. For the most part we will help you out in any way we can. I have not seen much of the clicky stuff at either of the two mentioned places. It might appear that way but it is just guys hanging out with their friends that they met there on other occasions, soon enough you will look like the clicky one, they are probably just as shy about getting to know you as you are with them. Just be nice and ask some questions and try not to bee too annoying and everyone will give you some tips and tricks that will help you out.

As mentioned before, I have learned the most about matches just by jumping in feet first and sinking or swimming. Just realize that nobody is really paying attention to anyones scores other then their own, and nobody is going to remember if you made an ass of yourself on that last stage as soon as the next one starts. I've proven it several times now! lol

So did anyone beat my time on SGT York? Went clean in 20seconds. About the only thing I did well the whole comp. :-/

Merritt, I kinda doubt that anyone beat that, I ran out just as squeezing on the 234. Guess those gas guns have an advantage on some stages.

demolitionman, you should come down to one of the regular matches held on the 4th weekend of each month. Great group to shoot with and everyone is always willing to help and let you check out their equipment.
