I was in the March 2025 Mountain Rifleman 3-day course; it was well worth the 7 hour drive. The owner/lead instructor is an active duty USMC GySgt with ~14 years' scout sniper and sniper instructor experience. In our course, the other two instructors included one active duty and one former Marines - both were 0317 scout snipers.
I've taken multiple other precision rifle courses and rank this course among the best. Are you going to learn anything revolutionary? No, but you recieve first class instruction from people who teach shooting for a living.
As you'd expect of a Marine SNCO, the course is well run and there is almost zero wasted time. On day 1 you spend a hour or so in the classroom, but after that you're on the firing line progressing from 100 yd zero/grouping drills to ringing steel at 1500 yds and 700 yd targets at high angles (up and down in the WV mountains). You also spend two days using the Kestrel 5700 Elite (provided as part of the course) and if you're not already a Kestrel/Applied Ballastics believer, you will be at the end of day 2. The owner has been teaching 19-22 year old Marines (LCpl-Sgts) how to use the Kestrel and engage long range targets so he can definitely teach you to do the same.
This course had a round count of 300, but I ended up shooting 354.
The course was held at Range One in Jolo, WV which is a great place to train. You can stay in the on-site facilities, but I would highly recommend you stay in Jolo at O'Quinn guest cabins (a 5 min drive from the range); ask about the cabins when you register for the course.
I hope to take another course next year. I hope this helps.
