Lookin to re-barrel Howa .243 to a fluted 18" light/heavy barrel in .308. twist rate can be 1/10, 1/11, even 1/12
I have not picked the barrel, or the gunsmith.
Lookin for someone reputable, able to get the barrel, install it, GTG in 30 days or less. I am located in Riverside County Ca.

I don't know the geography of CA but I know that HateCA (aka Randy) is a CA location and a top notch gunsmith who is on this site. I'm sure a PM directly to him would be a strong step in the right direction.

Good luck. I have a Howa also but won't be rebarreling anytime soon. Most smiths won't touch it because threads are metric and if you have the blued version, it is very difficult to remove the factory barrel (just ask Mark from Short Action Customs). Stainless version I heard was much easier.

Try Randy (HateCA), or Randy (AR15barrels.com) first to see what they say. Randy (AR15barrels.com) builds a lot of customs for the guys in Cali and the California Precision Rifle Club, and he is in LA County. I can't find his email or phone number right now but go to the website to see if you can find him there. I was hoping to one day send my Howa to Mark @ SAC for work but he may or may not want to touch another Howa ever again, unless it is stainless.

Ha, thank for throwing me under the bus.......lol

Maybe I will do this one just out of spite! Ok, not really.

The CM Howa's are probably the hardest rifles to break apart. I double barrel vise them, heat them up pretty good and have a very solid action wrench with a 3' cheater bar and I'm still hanging off the end with no luck.

Friends dont let friends work on Howa's!
