Re-barreled a 7mm mag to .300 win mag

+1 What 7mmRM said. But why? 7mm is a great round. I was going to do the same exact thing when I picked up my 700 ADL. Ended up liking the 7mm so much I just kept it and threw a B&C stock with some BDL bottom metal and a Timney Trigger, and I'm more than happy with it. I had a 300 Win once, it was great too. I'd imagine you probably already have brass/projectiles/reloading supplies for the 300 win?

No reloading supplies for either caliber yet. I'm just looking to keep my options open for the future. Also does the 7 mm mag feed out of a .300 win mag magazine for accuracy international chassis. Specifically looking at the AICS 2.0 or the new 2014 AX.

In all honesty I'm debating turning this into a mk13 mod ? I have to be honest, I like cloning military rifles.

hey if thats what you like to do that's your hobby and I say go for it. No sense in changing up what you want because someone else doesn't share the desire to do it. My 7mm is mostly my hunting rifle but I do occasionally take her out to the range and stretch her legs. I'm pretty sure if you are looking for extreme range the 300 win will be a little better than the 7mm as long as you are loading the big bullets (230 berger, etc). I have a simliar setup to what you are talking about as well, it's a 700 LA in 338 Lapua with an AICS 2.0. I do believe the 7mm and the 300 Win will both work with that mag.

Hey, if you want an AICS 2.0 I have one for a 700 LA. I have the 338 Lapua Mag, but I could sell you the chassis and you could buy the mag separate if you want. I am trying to get a chassis that will accommodate CIP length rounds for my Lapua, and the AICS will not allow this. However, it would be perfectly suited for what you are looking for. PM me if you are interested.

One more dumb question, 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm Mag. Are they the same thing?

There are a lot of 7mm variants, but when someone says 7mm mag they are most often referring to the traditional 7mm Rem Mag. Others are 7mm STW (shooting times westerner, a little larger case capacity), 7mm Remington Ultra Mag, 7mm SAUM (short action ultra mag), 7mm WSM (winchester short mag), 7mm Weatherby Mag, among others.

Ok cool, thank you.
