Just got back from the field shooting with this scope. Glass is outrageous in clarity. Had to dig out some math books to learn this mil mil metric system. What is it I'm missing ? I was sighting the rifle in, 1st group was Aprox 4" high. So math book says 25 mills is equalevent to 1" ( 10 mills is a Centimeter). So I adjust down 25 mils and now its Aprox 4" low ( And the scope started smoking) ? So I put away the math book, and just adjusted the scope regardless its a metric scope. I dial in elevation( 100yds) It turns out I only lowered it 5 clicks and it brought it down 4".So does this mean 1 click move's 1" at 100 yds ? Any how with just a few shots I was able to zero it. Its really different but cool shooting this FFP scope today. So what is the advantage of a mil mil scope over a MOA ? I mainly bought cause everyone raved about the glass and its looks really cool on my rifle. Plus I have a shooting club here where some of the guys use these mil mil scopes in matches I've shot in.

Like RFutch posted .1 mil which is 1 click (No one that knows about scopes and is a serious shooter will say "one click", but for this case it will work.) is .36 of an inch or 1.0 CM @ 100 yards. Now 1.0 Mil at 100 Yards is 3.6" which is 10 clicks of .1 mil scope adjustment.

So your 4" should of been 11 .1 mil clicks or 1.1 mil adjustment at 100 yards.

This would be wrong. .1 Mil is .36" at 100 yards.

So converting it back to inches. 1 click at 100yds is about 11/32nds of an inch. Scope is mounted on my RRAs coyote 20"bbl,my rifles intended purpose is a 300 yd coyote/varmint gun. This will work just find.Scope is "Bad to the Bone"

Re: New Weaver tactical 3-15x50

Its 12/32 or 6/16 or 3/8. To say a 1/4 will not work. So say .3 mils is 1.08" at 100 yards. But to tell the reality why are you reading inches ? why not mil with the reticle ? Makes life easier. Its what the FFP Mil/Mil scope is good for.

Do not think in inches.......... ONLY in Mils.
Do not think in clicks.......... ONLY in tenth Mils.
The reticle is FFP which means it is accurate all the time, so use it.

Re: New Weaver tactical 3-15x50

The way I have explained to people that are haveing trouble with the mil-mil system is to use the reticle as a ruler to measure were the shots are going. So if you measure your shots as 1.5 mils low, then dial 1.5 mils of elevation in and stop thinking in clicks.

Exactly! This is why you paid more for FFP with matching reticle and turrets. What it is in the reticle, is what it is on the knobs. Don't over complicate things. You paid the price not to have to.

Re: New Weaver tactical 3-15x50

If you can't see the holes in your target through the scope in order to reference against the mil lines in the reticle (such as at longer distances), thus requiring you to check targets up close and measure, get a ruler or tape measure that has centimeters.

Unless I'm mistaken, one centimeter at 100 meters is 0.1 mil, 2 centimeters at 200 meters is 0.1 mil, and so on. As an example of making adjustments, if the center of your group at 600 meters is 12 centimeters high, then adjust two clicks down (0.2 mil).

Using a centimeter measuring tool makes the math much simpler. If your targets are at yard intervals instead of meters, this method will still get you reasonably close on adjustments.

Here is a chart that explains what 1.0 mil is or .1 mil at 100 yards is or a .25 moa and 1.0 moa is at 100 yards.
