Rebarrel DPMS 308 to 243

A friend has a DPMS 308 and would like to re-barrel to 243. I'm an AR/M16 armorer, but never wrenched on a "10" type rifle. What is required besides a quality barrel and Go/No-go gauges. Is buffer, buffer spring, and gas block the same? Is there anything else I'm overlooking besides correct fixtures and tools?

Many believe that the bigger framed AR's are over gassed. So, an adjustable gas block might be a good addition too. I have them on both of mine.
