I have a savage long action and was looking to rebarrel for the same 30-06 caliber it is now but I want an accurate barrel 26in, and varmint contour. 1 Name comes to mind, ER-shaw, I have a 26in chromoly mcgowen on my savage short action 260 Remington and could not be more happier with it. the 260 itself shoots .25moa with hand loads.

Shaw has been hit or miss with me...some of them have been good (not great) and others have been very poor quality with tool marks all over the bore.
McGowan is a higher quality barrel...and at good prices. Just my $0.02.
