1 WEEK LEFT: This Target Haunts Me Contest
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
If I have the action/barrel/tool in my hands its in/out of the shop in 96 hours. Weekends do not count so if it shows up on a Friday. . .
We stock a large inventory of barrels so this could get real easy real fast.
If interested, take a gander at the other services offered for the M700 platform. We have oodles... If interested there's no better time to do this than when its all apart.
1. Find a local smith who will unscrew your factory barrel
2. Have the action trued (optional)
3. Buy an action wrench that you can clamp on a bench vise, a set of go/no go headspace gauges, a barrel nut spanner, and a Remage barrel and nut
4. Rebarrel your rifle in your basement/garage in a few minutes from now on

You can true all the other surfaces on the action and leave the threads alone if you want to keep using off the shelf barrels
OR
You can true up everything and buy Remage barrels from custom shops as long as whoever does the truing tells you the exact thread diameter they opened up the factory threads to.
The first option is cheaper but yes, you can true actions meant for Remage barrels if you want or need to.
Man, if I wasn’t doing my own barrel work, I’d have LRI and PVA on speed dial.
It’s such a cool thing how Chad has gotten so incredibly efficient. I dont miss the old days of reading threads with titles like “Ordered two years ago, gunsmith won’t answer emails” or some crap.

It seems that most gunsmiths that fail do so not because they are poor craftsmen but because they are poor businessmen. You have to be good at both if you're going to be self employed.

I agree completely. The fact remains, Chads approach to custom gun building and his productivity are simply unmatched at this time IMO. He’s setting the bar. I view PVA very similarly, but Josh is still growing things.
We live in an age where there are numerous talented gunsmiths, but I must say my LRI barreled action is nothing short of perfection. If you are looking for a re-barrel than I would strongly suggest you check out the LRI sniper's hide group buy.
