May 20, 2025 - Recap of the URSA 3000 Yard Challenge (2025) (by RD, Lynn Dragoman; build info and notes from Oscar)

Shooters, we finally got the opportunity to shoot the annual 3K match and started shooting at 2600 yds. The wind started out good but quickly went to 20+ mph.

I managed to draw the first starting position and with relatively light conditions managed to get 5 hits on our 37" circular gong for the win.

Runner up went to Doug Pulver who shot last in the shooting order and, naturally, he had the most wind to overcome. He was also shooting a borrowed gun (mine) after the barrel on his 33XC went south at our last match.

With only one shooter getting the required min of 4 in 10, the match ended.

A big Thank You to all the qualifiers.

Lynn - and Doug, borrowing Lynn's rifle and ammo - were shooting 390 gr Hornady A-tips out of Lynn's Billy Goat Machine-built .375 CT with Stiller 1.600 TAC DRIVER action, Lothar-Walther 36" barrel, McMillan HBR stock w/ tracking rails and barrel block, March 5-42x56 High Master wide-angle scope in Burris rings w/ 40 MOA inserts on a Mirage ULR 70 MOA rail.
