Recently got a URX3.1 installed on my 16" Recce-style carbine. Hit the range on 11/02/2012 with a couple boxes of Black Hills 77gr SMK remans, hopefully to get slightly better results out of the combination than before. Last time I went out was a rushed low light/dusk/sunset situation, and shooting with a x24 objective only exacerbated things. At any rate, rifle as it sits now:
Now, I haven't entirely gotten comfortable shooting for precision with only 4x magnification, but I'm getting there. I find myself looking for the easiest repeatable point of aim based off the center dot on the TMCQ reticle, which I feel is 'precision capable'. A couple of these groups look like shit because the wind was pretty atrocious that day. I didn't feel like breaking my shooting position every other shot or so and looking through the spotter just to see how close everything was. I got a hasty re-zero (after being put back together thankfully I only had to adjust .6 Mils down from original zero), and started shooting groups. These are the best ones, the others (3 more groups) were either zero related, or were blown to shit by associated wind and not even worth posting.
And the real pisser, the top group would've been the best of the day, but my trigger control on the first round (which landed on the sticky near the center) was apparently lacking. As soon as the shot broke, I knew I slapped my way through it.
I'm planning (still) on a Geiselle SD-C and I really want to replace the mount with a repeatble, QD-suitable mount so I can utilize irons more easily when just blasting.
