Received my Crusader today and need some advice

I have a NSX with a 56mm objective I would like to know if the Badger M40a3 0.886 rings would be high enough to clear the BBL. The 0.823's are just to short
frown.gif


I also want to add a short bypod approx 4" to 8" tall, recommendations needed...Lastly any other items you think I may need to pick up "Besides ammo"

Bipod, the harris S-BRM 6-9 notched swivel bipod with a kmw podloc is always a solid bet - look at triad for that.

I'm really not sure about the ring height, 56mm obj is huge.

I have looked at Triad and the list of stuff is begining to grow!!!

I really need to get some input regarding rings, I like the tree screw front two screw rear Badger USMC type rings but I'm just not sure they will be high enough at 0.886 ..I have the standard hight Badger rings that came with the rifle, I also have a set of Max50 rings but both are 0.823...The Max50's are on the scope now and it just not going to work...I Do have another NF NSX 2.5x10 that would drop right on , however it on my 06 and I really dont want to swap it over...Thanks for the input ...JW

If the .823s were short then how much extra height you think you'll get with the .886? .063", not much. Go with 1" height with 56mm objective. Will give you the clearence.

I specified what sight I will be using to GAP and asked them to send the correct rings so......

I have Harris S 6-9 with KMW Pod Loc. Its too tall for prone.

Ask Stu if he can sew up a butt stock pouch. So far, he has been receptive to my wishings.

Congrats on your new purchase! I also have a Crusader, but with the 50mm objective NXS. I also received the standard height Badger rings and they work great for my scope. Not a lot of extra room between the scope and barrel, seems about right though. If your data on the std's height is correct, then you would need an additional 0.118 of height for the extra 3mm radius of the 56mm. This would be 0.941 in (0.823 + 0.118). If the next size up is 1.0 in then that would work, assuming that the barrel contour is the same. Mine has the older action, and is about 2 yrs old. It has the same barrel that they used, Bartlien/Obermeyer. Email me if you'd like a pic of the clearance between my 50mm and the barrel. Also, you may want to just get the Harris 6-9", but make sure to get the one with leg notches. It allows you 5 or 6 adjustments between the 6 and 9 inches. I haven't noticed much difference when i get lower, but your experience/position might be different. Your neck will appreciate it! Good luck

Sounds like my setup is like Neitzsche73's. He is exactly right, the .941 would likely be perfect, If you are adding butler creek caps it would not hurt to go with the 1". About "I hope it is all worth it" You will love your new rifle. I had to sell my M82A1 to get mine and I love it. Far as the cheekpiece, Eagle makes all kinds of prototype stuff, my gove them a call and see if they can help you. Brandon

Thanks for the input,
I'll give the 1.000 rings a go ..If its to tall for the way I shoot I'll just buy another optic with a smaller obj....

As for the cheek pad I may just have one made...Never know when left handed shots are needed and I dont want the side bag in the way...JW

According to the fit chart I have from Badger, you will need the 1.0" 306-21 Med-High rings if you have a 56mm obj:
