There is a Remington 700 tactical in .223 with a 16.5 in. barrel(threaded version with green stock) at my local shop for a decent price that I would like to pick up and punch it to .223 AI. Basically want to use it to fireform the brass in the mean time while I save to upgrade it. I like the fact that it is pre-threaded for my can but I'm worried if my smith makes it an Ackley that he will have to shorten more(from what I have researched) and I would be close to SBR territory. Does anybody have any experience with this type of venture? I guess if worse comes to worse I could weld the AAC brake on the barrel but I really did not want to do that.
Thanks
