Don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a 3x magnifier. Looking for a decent 3x 30mm magnifier for less than $200. I can get a used Vortex VMX 3T for $150; is this a good magnifier?

I think you can pick up an aimpoint 3xc for fairly cheap these days. I think the vortex is ok. Think I looked thru one but can’t remember

I use the Vortex on my work rifle and have been very happy with it. I used it on a barricade last fall where I was close enough to the back of the house that I did not need the magnification to aim. The flip mount allowed me to use it as a magnified monacle for observation with a simple twist of the rifle while still having full use. Of my iron sights and Aimpoint.

I have the Vortex VMX-3T on my Street Broom AR. Worked well in conjunction with my Vortex Strikefire II red dot. I co witness with my iron sights so I have basic red dot functionality, a magnified red dot view for more precision work, or I can turn it off and fold the 3X away and go iron sights.

I was advised not to get the 3X and told it was not going to do anything I wanted but the current gun is very fast and accurate out to 400ish yards....fast, easy, and cheap. I adore the 3X when I need it for more precise work. For what I paid for it (it was sitting in stock and languishing so I got a deal at the LGS) I recommend it.

It'd be better if I had an expensive Aimpoint 1 MOA dot but it works better than hoped for with the Vortex Strikefire II hot red dot.

I just picked up an Atlon 5x that blows my older generation Aimpoint 3x out of the water. Glass is very clear and the diopter adjustment actually allowed me to reduce any distortion from my astigmatism. I see a very clear circle instead of a distorted circle with blooming rays of light. They also have a 3x which is a little less money but just as clear.
