I have HS precision bottom metal and two new HS precision 10 round mags that are made for 308. The rifle is a 300WSM with a Mcmillan A5. What is the prefered method of modifying the mags in order to raise the bullet higher in the mag so that the bolt will pick up the WSM cartridge? Just bending the lips of the mags or taking some material off of the length and then bending the lips or????? I appreciate your advice. SmokeRolls

Re: Recommendations on modifying HS Precision mags

I would leave the mags, and lips alone...............
The logical thing, seems to be removing a tad of the tabs on the top side of the bottom metal..................
This would(in my eye), raise the entire assy...........
Or maybe remove a tad of the A5 stocks inletted area....... (inside mag well hole area's).
But before I started messing w/ anything, I ould call HS and ask their opinion.

Nice advice Ron. Thanks for that. I just ordered that tool and went ahead and finally got an Otis cleaning kit.....SmokeRolls
