I’ve never used this neck die, only the version with the black nitride screw top. What is the function of the micrometer?
The micrometer allows small and repeatable adjustment of the length of the neck that gets sized. This type of die also uses a sleeve that keeps the case concentric when sizing.
That bottom most portion of the die retracts into the die body when it comes in contact with your reloading press ram.
