No, the body die allows you to size the body of the brass/bump the shoulder, without touching the neck. I have heard some use the small base die for loading for semi-auto, but I use a normal 308 die set for my AR-10 style rifle.

FYI, Redding makes a 'small base' Body Die in .223, but like the other guy states, a Body Die doesn't touch the necks.
