So here's something I have been pondering, I do not own these dies yet but a local is offering some…

If I purchase the REdding Type S Bushing Neck Die Set, and remove the micrometer that is on the seater die<replacing this with a VLD micrometer>, can I take that micrometer and mount it into the neck sizer bushing die?? Will that function like the competition neck bushing die?

dcnyli,

From what I understand of your question, the answer is no. The seater (when purchased as a set) is usually the competition seater, which has a different physical configuration from the neck sizer. Then again, Redding sells micrometers specifically for adjusting how much neck sizing is done with the type-S dies, which usually use a stem and lock nut to adjust how much of the neck is sized.

Probably doesn't help much,

You change the bushing in the type S dies to change the sizing of the diameter of the neck. You adjust the die up or down to determine the amount of the neck that gets sized. The micrometer seater stem is used to adjust how far the bullet is seated into the case neck. The micro top is used as a repeatable setting.
