Anyone play around with dialing down the speed on the 22 creedmoor.

Like running the 85gr-90gr projectiles at around 2900-3000 fps?

Any downside to this other than the speed loss?

Lol. I knew someone would ask this question.

It’s a really long explanation and I’m on my phone so typing it out right now is not an option.

Short version is youth long range shooter, barrel life, barrel swaps to go to 6mm cm and 6.5 cm as she grows as a shooter.

I can add more detail later but that’s the overview.

Edit: And I’m genuinely curious.

I havent done it myself as I see no point to it but I see your average barrel life going from 1k rounds to 1.1k rounds. Not worth it to me.
Shit loads of small powder down that tiny bore is still going to erode it really fast even if you do take your foot off the accelerator a bit.

When I worked up my original loads with an 85 rdf and rl26 on a new barrel I started at 38 gr and it went 2745. 40 gr got me to 2930. 42 got me 3110. So about ~100 fps per grain charge increase.

43.5 grains is my chosen load and gets me 3400 and it dropped to 3350 after 800 rounds so its already dropping velocity. Ill throw this barrel back on and burn the last 200 bullets up this winter now.
