Do I need to reduce load size for thicker LC brass over what I would for PPU? This is for 5.56 LC brass if it matters.
I have searched on here and google. Some say yes some say no.

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

Now you know that anyone offering good advice will say to start low and work your way up looking for pressure signs

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

I had to for 7.62 (about 1 grain), have no experience with 5.56.....

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

I reload mixed 223/5.56 brass (including lots of LC) and use the same load across the board. If that answers your question. All my friends do the same. YMMV

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

I load LC for my AR-15 and most will say that, for example, 4046 is usually good at about 25gr well for me I had to go lower to 24gr to not get pressure signs. But like stated here and everyone else that is smart will tell you start 10% lower and come up just so bad shit don't happen...........

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

Check the water capacity of 5 rounds each, fired cases, and return and report.

Do not assume there is a difference. Measure. Quantify. There is no subsitute.

Re: Reduced loads for LC brass?

308 LC brass has less capacity than commercial.

223 LC brass has more capacity than commercial.

The internet will never finish stating that.
