Reducing LOP on an accustock

Re: Reducing LOP on an accustock

That sounds like the best idea. The factory pad is super thick so there should be a noticeable difference.

Maybe a thinner recoil pad for LOP and then a brake for recoil reduction?

Yeah. I'm going to try a 1/2" pachmayr pad. The rifle is only a .308 and weighs ~13lbs loaded, so recoil shouldn't be much of a problem.

I'm hoping to move to an NFA-friendly state soon, anyway. If I do, I'll be getting a suppressor, which I've heard is even better than a brake at reducing felt recoil.

Yeah I have a 15lb .308 and the recoil is no problem.

At my range I get a bunch of crap for shooting .308 because all the old timers say every .308 they've shot was terrible. It's because their such pansies they flinch from the recoil.

Yeah my primary residence and my range is in MN so no Federally legal suppressor for me! Screw state government!

Re: Reducing LOP on an accustock

I would mark the cut line with masking tape and cut it off with a circular saw, clean up the cut with a sanding block, rough trim the butt pad with a sabre saw, mount it with black RTV and a couple of screws, then fine trim the butt pad with a mini grinder and file, then shoot it not look at it

that being said 2 inches is lot to cut off, I did this to make a kids length stock
