Reloader 33 and 300 Norma

.....looking for any "been there, done that" data for both 338NM and 300NM? or starter data from Qwikload? Alliant hasnt been much help. thx

Where does RL-33 come in on a burn rate chart?
N 570 in 300 Norma mag was the only powder giving any velocity with a 230gr berger. I can't recall if we tried rtumbo, I think so. VV 24N41 was no velocity, H1000 was nothing but pressure.

from what I can find its south of Retumbo but north of 8700.

That should put it close to even with 570, nice cheaper alternative. Just got an email from Norma, their 217 powder is supposed to be in US this month, guy said it should be a good choice for top accuracy in 300 Norma, but may be lacking in speed. Kinda scares me because he said it is slower than their old MRP2.

I've been playing with it, but keep coming up short in the velocity department. I scraped up a starting load from somewhere for .300wm using 79.5gr RL33 behind a 230gr. Berger, and got 2750fps out of a 29'' barrel. I pushed it to 83gr, and got 2800fps. In .338LM, I ran 97.5gr of RL33 with a 300gr Berger in a 26" barrel & got decent grouping at 2750fps. I pushed to 100gr and only got to 2784fps, mild cratering. Weird.

update: 96.5 gr RL-33 with 208 Amax goes very sub moa in my rifle.
