Gentlemen,
I have reloaded some brass for a 7mm rem mag and I am having trouble getting it to chamber. I am using RCBS FL resizing dies and have trimmed to the proper length. This brass has been reloaded more than once but not by me. I have checked my length and I am not to long to fit in the chamber. What my question is, has anyone ever experienced a belted magnum case expanding just above the reinforcement belt at the bottom of the case and not allowing the case to chamber or making it ever difficult for the bolt to lock up? What is the fix or is the reality that you have to trash magnum cases after 2 or more uses.

Thanks.

Re: Reloading 7mm Rem mag/unable to chamber

I am a big fan of the 7mmRemMag.

Wimpy loads, no problems.

But hot loads get the case to expand right in front of the belt, and the full length sizer die does not change that because the die is chamfered on the orifice, not square. If it were square, it would dig into the brass like a chisel.

This leaves a few choices:
1) Segregate brass for only one rifle, womb to tomb.
2) Buy Larry Willis' collet die for belted magnums.
3) Keep buying new brass
4) give up
