Ok, so im going work up a load for my 300 win mag with the 220gr matchkings with AA 3100 powder . I have a 26in barrel with 1-10 twist , what kind of velocities should I expect ??? If anyone can help that'll be great !

somewhere in the neighborhood of 2600 fps.

Re: Reloading for Rem 700. 300 win mag/w 220 matchking

I use 210 grain Berger bullets and i get 2850 fps using reloader 22 powder with 26 inch barrel/300 WM
I have not used matchkings.the BC for berger BTHP bullets is 0.626.
i have used them to hit a target at one mile.

Thanks bud ! Seems like you have a really good load . Im currently using federal 215 primer/190gr matchkings with 75.0gr of AA3100. I haven't shot it through a chronograph yet , but im assuming around 3000 fps or more . I'm going heavy just to shot a longer ranges. What type of primers are you using???

Dominique,

Take a look at Hodgedon H-1000 for the 220's.AA-3100 is better suited for the lighter bullets.

Also consider 208 Hornady Amax.Higher speed and ballistic coefficient.

Steve,

Thanks alot ! I'll definitely look into the H-1000 .

I used h-1000 and 220's in a 26" tube. 74.5 grns pushed 2870 and it would've gone faster.

I use 70 grains of AA3100 (now XMR3100) with a 240 SMK and get velocities from 2750 in a 26" barrel to 2900 in a 28" barrel. I'd say you would get around 2800 to 2850 depending on your particular barrel.
