sniper google referenced me to some posts about the factory threads might be off quite a bit. is it possible to re-thread or clean up the factory threads without cutting, recrown/rethread? is there any way to tell if the factory threads are serviceable without having to pay someone to take it apart? figure if it has to be taken apart i might as well just rebarrel.

as always, thanks in advance!

Re: Rem 700 AAC-SD threads

The best way to check the factory threads would be to dial in the barrel in a lathe and run an indicator on them.
At that point, you could also cut 5/8" off the length and re-cut new threads if they are NOT running as true as you would like.
