I've got a Remington 700 ADL LA that I had rebarrelled to a full bull contour and am using a HS percission police stock.
I've inlet the stock so the barrels free floating (Alot of inletting involved). Everything fits fine except the factory bottom metal. When I screw in and tighten the action screws, the front and rear seem to go in the action to far, completely binding the bolt. Anyone with any experiance in this?
I've added 2 washers to the screws (shimmed) between the stock and bottom metal and thats eliminated the bolt from binding but is still far from ideal.
Anyone got a solution? Would really prefer not changing stocks.
Thanks

Re: Rem 700 bottom metal shimming

That’s a more common problem than you would think. Take the rifle out of the stock and bed the bottom metal. No screws just lay it in the inlet and bed the front & rear tabs. Use Q-tips to remove the excess bedding from the guard screw holes and clean it up prior to full cure. Problem solved.
