2 years ago I put together a Remington 700 short action BDL in 6.5 creedmoor. The barrel is a 24" Shaw barrel. Action and barrel are stainless steel if the makes a difference. I love my gun... not so much the caliber. I want to get away from 6.5 creedmoor and step into 300wsm. I don't want to sell the for i have a lot of money in it and it is my first build. I am new to this and sorry if this questions are to easy to answer.
A. Can I rechamber my 6.5 barrel and have it drilled to a 300 wsm?
B. What in a 700 bdl short action needs to be changed to go to 300 wsm?
C. I can buy a Shaw blank barrel and have it chambered if I need to but I have not heard back from ky gun co if they can do it. If they can't where would you send it to get chambered.
D. Also open to other makers of barrels but must be stainless.

Thank you for any help.

A-no
B-need to open boltface and possibly work on feed rails, probably have to notch the feed ramp as well.
C-any 30 caliber blank with correct twist will do.
countless options.
Search here for reliable smiths, they’re pretty obvious.

The easy way is to get the action work done then get a 300WSM remage barrel from NSS or x caliber.

Actually, you COULD have the barrel rebored, accuracy tends to suffer.
Completely different bolt face.
You could send it to LRI, have it opened up and an m16 style extractor installed.
Or you could buy a PT&G one piece bolt with the correct bolt face (buy it from Midway USA).
Your best bet would be to convert to AICS DBM, otherwise you get into altering your current BDL and changing your follower.
I have been very pleased with my stainless ER Shaw barrel, you may want to also consider McGowan in the budget realm.
Both McGowan and Shaw will do barrel installs.
In the end, the only thing original from your original build will be the action and the stock.
