Rifle Scopes rem 700 seekins rail screw size

Trying to purchase 20 moa seekins rail. Going to mount it on rem 700 long range 7mm rem mag. Two different screw size options. 6-48 or 8-40. Anyone know what size screw is correct.

Typically they are 6-48, and the 8-40 is an option to tap it out larger for more strength for magnum cartridges if one chooses.

Makes sense. Wonder if I need to worry about it with the seven mag. Or if the factory size screw is plenty strong for the caliber.

Factory will be fine as the Seekins has a recoil lug on their rails. You can always open it up later to 8-40 if you wanted or if you had a smith to do it close to you you can do it now but I wouldn't ship the rifle off to get just that done.
