I have an opportunity to buy this set-up for $450. The rifle is gently used. It is chambered in 300 Win-Mag. Do you guys think this would be a good buy? I yet have a bolt gun and thought this might be a good one to start with.

The rifle feels really light, so it will probably kick hard. I have yet to shoot a 300 wm.

What do you guys think?

I would pick a .308 to start with...less expensive to shoot and MUCH less recoil. I see a lot of used .300 WM's around here. They all were "gently used", as the owners found out they were not that much fun to shoot at the range. Most of the lightweight 300's were used for 1 elk hunt then traded off, which is why they are priced much lower.
