I guess I'm going to have to buy a rem 700 sps for the action and bottom to build my 338 RUM, What is a new takeoff barrel and stock worth? I was thinking about getting a 300RUM so the bolt face would already be right, but i guess if someone needs a barrel for something else i could probably get one of those instead.

Be sure to blue print your SPS as every one we have used was way out of line in about every way one could be. Compared to a late mid 60's model that basically must have been trued as it cleaned up even from the slightest touch of the tools.

I've been wondering the same thing.
There's a guy on the KSL classified selling unfired Remington take-off barrels for $20 ea.
