Sorry for the noob questions, but I don't have experience in this area. I was kicking around the idea of finding a Remington 700 and making it into a 6.5 creedmore. Is it as simple as buying a barrel? Barrel and a bolt? I know the cartridge is accurate but would like to keep a nice wood stock for looks. That's for the input.

As long as it is a short action with a .473 bolt face diameter (308, 243, 22-250, etc) then yes you can just replace the barrel. Its not quite as easy as just buying a barrel and screwing it on but that is the only thing that will need replaced.

You may be able to find a pre-chambered barrel and set head space with your recoil lug but I would recommend to take it to a smith and have them replace it with a new barrel chambered in 6.5 creedmoor and they will do the rest.

REALLY hard to beat 6.5 Creedmoor, especially if you don't reload...and I say that as a 260 guy.

Buy a case of Hornady 6.5 Creed 140gr A-Max factory ammo, shoot, sell the brass here, buy another case, rinse/repeat.
