Gunsmithing Rem 798 trigger question

Re: Rem 798 trigger question

Its a 98 mauser trigger. CZ commercial action, and as I recall the trigger is supposed to be an adjustable type common to L/R mausers.

What specifically do you need to do to it or know?

Re: Rem 798 trigger question

It is a Timney style OEM trigger, not AT ALL like the 700. The owner's manual lists the trigger and a breakdown of the trigger, this should guide you to competently adjusting it if that is what you desire.

Re: Rem 798 trigger question

No, Remington imported those rifles. They are like no other trigger. They are mauser style by means of attachment. Meaning they are attached to the reciever like a 98 Mauser but that is it. The trigger has a safety barrel. If you adjust the poundage, you must adjust the safety also. Remington only imported those as barreled actions and then had another company make stocks. They are made in Zastava Yugo. Interarms imported them in 70`-80`s. Then Charles Daly, Then Rem, now EAA.

Re: Rem 798 trigger question

I apologize in advance for the following threadjack about the 798.

What would be recommended modifications to this rifle for more accuracy without crossing the line of diminishing returns? Trigger, stock, etc. I just bought one from the for sale section that I want to turn into a project hunting rifle.
