I know different actions come with different cuts. I have a Rem 700 sitting in a Manners chassis that feeds perfect from AI mags. But what if that action had a wyatt cut or an AI cut. Would I need to do anything different?
The reason I ask is this. I want to get a new action for more a play gun/ switch barrel. I would like to be able to throw on a 18" 6mm creed barrel to shoot coyotes with. Then throw on a 26" 6.5 prc or WSM barrel and shoot deer. The Criterion barrels are cheap and it would be interesting to swap them as I like. But I don't know what cuts play with what chassis or feed system. With all the new actions it is simple enough to change bolt faces these days.
I want an affordable project gun. I have had a few rifles built and a number of 700,s rebarreled all by a smith of course. This one will be all me.
Will a wyatt cut action feed from a manners chassis with a AI mag?? Would it need to be a bdl feed system? Will a action with feed lips feed a WSM case. Ect Ect. I don't know what plays with what. Someone else always figured that out for me on gun projects.
