Gunsmithing Rem700 BDL wood stock and heavy barrel?

Hi!

I am wondering if there is any difficulty to fit a heavy barrel (like M24 contour) in a wood stock originaly made for a varmint barrel.
I am thinking of took off some wood (with the appropriate tool!) to make the space for the heavy barrel.

Yes, you should be able to do this. Once you have taken off some wood, then seal the wood up with a varnish or something.

The HTG from McMillan has a pretty narrow forend, but the Marine Corps armorers have squeezed some fat tubes in those forends. I have a sporter ADL stock with a variant contour in it and it looks great.

I would also reccomend putting pillars in the stock to help support the larger barrel floating free.
