Remanufactured History and Public Education

Slaves were in the Governor's mansion in Delaware long after the war was over. The real truth hurts their agenda and needs to be wiped from the history books. It's the only way to keep them down and voting for the people against what this country was built on. Growing up a mere 3 hours or so from most Civil War battlefields, I'd wager I've spent more time at them learning the real history than is taught in all the classes across the US. My wife knows JD Petruzzi and Eric Wittenberg and we have spent some time with them Gettysburg.

Don't forget the Whiskey Rebellion. Sad thing, right there. In about eleventy different ways.

Just like for example most don't realize George Washington was so concerned with him "image" that he didn't do as much after the revolution to make things right as people expect.

It took the Shay's Rebellion to get the bill of rights passed that we all take for granted as part of the "constitution" and George Washington being afraid someone else would get the glory for it, before he got involved and wanted to be seen as having gotten the bill of rights passed.

Great "Patriots" like Samuel Adams were busy as the new leaders trying the same tricks the British used to silence the "press" or any other "rabble-rousers" and enslave the populace for the gain of the government.

You might say that the Shay's Rebellion is what actually gave us the freedoms and rights we all take for granted.

.... if the civil war was about slavery....then why was slavery still legal in the union loyal border states?.....

And why did Lincoln himself say that he always thought the war was over taxes?

....this is why my kids will be homeschooled....

I'm not even an amateur historian, but I have read some news stories written at the time (during the war) - and it's very interesting and not really what is taught. Public sentiment and interest in the war is not what we have been led to believe. Anyway, I've written off the War Between the States - it's time to move on though I hate the power it gave to the central, Federal government. We had been a better country until the last 20 years.
