Hey all figured I’d ask here, I found a nice stock for my old rem 1100 the guy selling it lists in his ad it’s for a 20g mine is a 12g. If I were buying a forend I could see that being an issue but it’s just the butt stock. Will I be ok or are the gauge specific?

I typically don’t dabble in shotguns

Thanks for any info!

I may be wrong, but I think the 20 ga. may be built on a smaller receiver than the 12.

Early model 20ga 1100s were built on 12ga frames. the serial number of those guns ends with an "X".
After that, 20ga guns were labeled "LT" or "LW"
The stock dimensions on the later guns are smaller than 12ga gun stocks.

I remember reading something similar on a forum but wasn’t sure if it was correct.

Thanks for the info!
