This 223 Rem 40XB KS Varmint Special came to me new in the box with every single piece of paper originally shipped with the rifle ranging from Custom Shop Order Tag to the ubiquitous Remington scrap of paper with two groups measured and documented. Even the inspector’s tag came with it.
Bolt numbered to the gun.
My question is, at present the rifle is set up for an externally adjusted scope with a longer than normal base as it uses a block at the rear of the receiver and the standard block mid barrel.
My inclination is to remove the rear block and mount an EGW rail, EGW 30mm rings and a Leupold 6.5-20 50mm scope I have on hand.
I have this set up on a Rem Custom Shop 300SAUM I recently acquired and it works quite well.
I do have a Redfield Palma rear micrometer sight NIB with Remington mounting plate and somewhere a Redfield Big Bore front aperture sight.
Or should I go about finding a period correct external adjusting scope?
I understand H-Lux makes such scopes.
Any suggestions appreciated!
