Remington 5r in 308 handloads

I have been shooting some 155 gr amax with IMR 4895 44.5 grains with pretty good results. My OAL is 2.805. Velocity is avg 2795.
Does anyone else have any pet loads for theirs that they love? Im up to trying new stuff

My 5R likes 44.4 Varget with 175SMK @ 2.83

I've been using the Lapua 155 Scenars with 45.4g varget @ 2.80" It shoots them very well.

I shoot the 155 amax at 44 grains varget. I haven't worked it higher yet. It shoots 1/2 moa groups as it is.

175 smk rl15 at 43.3 gr
1/2 inch groups average on several 5 round groups.

I just bought some 180 grain SSTs that I hope to load to have a similar trajectory to the 175 smk

StockDog, I tried some 150 SSTs and mine didnt like it at all, the amax was better. Let me know how yours likes the SSTs

My goal is to hAv a hunting round for hogs and coyotes and a target round IOC similar weight and BC. The 180sst is closer to the smk or 178 Ama x. I also am looking for a bullet that is much cheaper to shoot that might could do double duty. If it likes the 180 I may just use it for target as well. It is closer to the amax in price.

I'll do a range report when I have done a workup.

I couldnt get my 5R to eat 175SMK's to save my life! But it did very well with 155Scenars and RL15.

45gn of varget shoots good for me with a 168gn smk.even 43gn of 4064 with a 168gn smk.

man USMCj sorry to hear that yur 5R want shoot a 175gn bullet.this is tha first time I have ever heard of 5R not shoot one.what does it do with the 168gn bullets?

I shoot 43g of varget, 175 SMK, CCIBR2, Lapau brass 2.800 COAL. This shoots really well. If its more than 1/2 inch its my fault.

I am still trying to find a hunting load. I am working on a Nosler Accubond 165gr load right now with 44g varget that is coming along. I just need to find more time to get to the range to try different lengths. It looks promising

5R, I no longer have the rifle, it got traded. Im very much done with 30cal anything. Onto bigger and better things, bigger and better being 7mm

It sucked equally with the 168's but was a hammer with the 155 Scenars printing .3" 5 shot groups. But like I said, I've turned my back on 30cal, it offers nothing I want.

Well I couldnt stand it so I loaded some up and went to the range. 168 SMKs IMR 4895 at 39, 39.5, and 40 grains..... The 40gr shot the best. 5 shot groups at .6 inches, the last i screwed up. If not for the last one it would have been a .4 group at 100 yds. I thought was pretty good for a beginner shooter. Gonna try some more out to 200 yds and see how they fair.

I have only been reloading for a couple of months, with under 100 rounds under my belt, but 42.4gr of Varget under 168SMKs in Hornady match brass with CCI200 primers makes for sub.5" groups as long as I do my part.
