Gunsmithing remington 700 barrel set back to fit savage threads?

Might be dumb but it was something me and my buddy were wondering. Rem 700 thread barrel set it back to savage threads

Are you rechambering it in the same caliber?
You could cut old tenon off, cut a new tenon and rechamber it and only lose the length of the original tenon.
